If you are making a weekend out of visiting the air show in Dayton, you may also want to check out some terrific offerings outside of Dayton and make time for a day trip to Columbus.
Columbus is about an hour east of Dayton and offers several fun activities for the entire family.
Columbus has a vibrant down town area and several must see suburbs. A great place to start viewing what all there is to do in Columbus is at http://www.experiencecolumbus.com/. The site offers an overview of tourist destinations for the downtown and campus area.
Some highlights of fun things to do.
COSI - Located in downtown Columbus, plan on at least 3 - 4 hours to explore this amazing science museum. Kids love it and it offers a variety of fantastic activities that kids and adults will enjoy.
State House - The State House is located in the center of the city and call ahead to see if it has tours or open to the public when you are visiting. Across the street is the Ohio Theater which has a variety of off broadway shows.
Columbus Zoo - You could spend multiple days walking through and visiting all of the amazing animals on display at the zoo. One of the best in the country.
Food and Drink
Columbus is known as a foodie town and you can find an amazing variety of foods for any taste. If you are visiting one fo the attractions above, simply google restaurants nearby and you will find a limitless supply of cuisines to satisfy any craving.
For desserts and sweets you can not go wrong with Jenis. There are scoop shops located throughout the city so you will not be far from one. Another treat we love are cupcakes from a small bakery in Grove City.
Columbus is full of both large malls and small artsy areas to shop at. If you are looking for a grand shopping adventure, make sure to check out some of these popular spots.
Easton - Located on the East side of Columbus and a fun way to spend the day. The shops are located outside and makes for a wonderful time on a nice day.
Polaris - Larger than Easton with about any big box store you could imagine.
Short North - Located in downtown, there are a variety of galleries and trendy shops lined along the streets. Make sure to check out the North Market for some amazing artisan items.
With all of the fantastic offerings that Columbus has to offer, you can not go wrong with planning a day trip to visit this facinating city as part of your air show weekend.

There are some amazing performers and performances slated for this year. Each year the show has a variety of different performers for that always wows and mesmerizes the audience. The announcers for the show this year will be long time favorite Rob Reider and Danny Clisham.
